The Frontier
Here's a relatively new one...located again in Brunswick, Maine, just on the border of Topsham in Fort Andros. It has the BEST view in the area, as it overlooks the Androscoggin River. It is on Maine Street heading to Topsham, or coming off Rt. 1, take a right at the Topsham exit in Brunswick...not the first one that is really a bypass through Topsham. Park on either side of the building. The easier lot to park in is the one by the large main entrance to Fort Andros, but then you have to walk through the building following the signs. The other parking area is on the back, just before you cross the bridge into Topsham. It is steep and parking there is limited, but you can go in the loading dock door and practically right into the cafe.
Phew! Lots of directions....I should draw a picture.
But when you get in there, you will find a spacious area for eating light sandwiches, salads, baked goods, etc. and surfing the Internet. The place used to be a factory, so it is quite rustic with high ceilings, lots of wood and metal...giant windows overlooking the falls, bridge and homes of Topsham. In one corner they have a suspended lounger and comfortable seating. By each window they have a long wooden table that will seat about 10 or so, so there is some sharing of tables encouraged there. They have a small movie theatre that has shows on the weekends, so some nights it is busy for a bit right before the movie starts. It quiets down then and there's Internet galore.
I imagine you will be able to see the cormorants on the rocks in the summer. It's a wonderful view when the weather is stormy too.
